We the selfish prick

A man was cycling in a summer afternoon to deliver milk to earn and feed his family, the temperature was about 45 degree. But he cannot stop he has milk to deliver, before it gets spoiled because of heat, which means a huge loss not just for him, but his family. He could have stooped if he had to think only about him, but it was his family who were dependent on him. The heat strikes him and he fell to the ground, while no one around. He lies fainted in the ground, his soul crying out to the people who passed by to help him. People walk passed him, some said he was drunk, and some said he was sleeping. Everyone knew the milk man might be in danger of his life, but they convinced their soul not wanted to waste their time and money. They lied to themselves, convincing themselves they were not the selfish prick.

Many people walked by no one gave a damn about him, finally a women around 40 years old passed him and heard the voice of his soul, she came to him and touched him, sprinkled water on his face and gave him some water to drink. All she did was, she showed love to the stranger who was in need.

We see beggar on the street, what do we do?? We hand him one rupee coin, 5 rupee coin, 10 rupee note.  Sometime we are very generous we give them 20 rupee coin, we feel so proud and we proclaim ourself a generous person. It is never wrong to feel good about the good things we do but are we really doing them any big favour. Can we sit with them for 5 Min and ask them their problem, can we buy food and sit with them and eat, make them feel loved and normal. There are very few who can do that, they understand the purpose of life, they understand the true meaning of love, compassion and selflessness. There is no point in giving away 1 crore rupee, when you have 100 crore with you. There is a vast difference between charity and Alms.

A 1000 Rupee may be McDonalds for me, the same 1000 may mean lively-hood for another person. We see so many people around who needs help, but we ignore to see, we ignore to hear and ignore to raise our voice. Stand in the railway station, look around you will find a old women/man needing some help with their luggage, a blind man needed to get into a train, a small boy labour waiting to be rescued, a women being harassed waiting for you to raise your voice. Why do we have to wait for them to come to us, to ask us for help and even if they, why do we ignore?  Why don't we go forward to help them before they ask us?

In a evening in Mumbai, a man was lying on the railway flyover , he was way to thin and he wasn't even begging, he was just lying down. People who crossed him dropped coins and note next to him. There were about 100 rupee change lying around him. No one stopped next to him, no one bothered to ask him if he was hungry, if he wanted something to eat or drink, or if it was cold outside and he needed some cloths. People who was generous(" ") dropped coin and note and felt happy about it, some saw him in pity and talked about the poor in India and how the government is doing nothing for them. Some did not care, they were used to this scene. No one realised the money they gave was of no use, he was gone long back. This is a usual incident in big cities.

2 weeks back when I was travelling on the local trains in Mumbai, standing near the door, watching people walking running, I saw something very disturbing. A old man about a age of 60-70 was eating his own feces. I just couldn't watch it anyone, it showed the hypocrisy in me for wanting McDonalds when people have no food to eat. Wanting Calvin Klein dresses when people die of cold, having nothing to cover themselves. Wanting latest phone and tablets when people don't have money for educating their children. I am a selfish prick.
